Question from AnnabellaJ
I just had a really basic question about reverse phone number search – why would anyone need it? Can’t you just pop a phone number in Google and find out the information you need? I see that most of the places with reverse phone number search charge for it- why is that? Doesn’t the information just come from search engines like Google?

That’s a lot of questions about reverse phone searching! There are a lot of reasons someone may need a reverse phone number search done. One of the most common is because they want to find out a phone number that has been calling. It may be crank calls or it may be one’s spouse or partner is getting phone calls from a phone number they won’t divulge. Google and other search engines do have some phone numbers, but generally that is gleaned from forums, blogs and other public postings and may or may not be accurate. When you do a reverse phone number search, you are actually accessing our vendor’s database of millions upon millions of records. Those records are provided directly by the phone companies (both land lines and cell phones) and other venues that have actual dealings with consumers. Their information does not come from search engines, which isn’t usually reliable information in the first place. The information from the actual companies is sold to companies like our vendor and they in turn charge a very small fee to access the database. You can use the database to look up a phone number anywhere in the United States or can use reverse phone number search to find out who owns a phone number and it doesn’t matter if it is a land line or cell phone number.
